What is screen printing?
Screen Printing is a printing process that involves placing layers of
ink on top of garments by means of various silk screens with different
types and colors of special ink.
How is it done?
A sheet of silk is placed in an aluminum frame with a stensil of the
negative of the image that is to be printed. The frame is placed over the
garment that is to be printed, such as a t-shirt or jacket.
Ink is placed in the frame and the operator, with a sharp rubber
blade (commonly called a squeegee), pulls the ink across the image. When
the frame is removed from the garment, a beautiful, even image has been
made. The garment is placed in a dryer to "cure" the image to the garment.
When it cools, the garment is ready to be worn!
